Get your children involved. Write letters to the current landowner of the proposed site. Let him know that you feel a plant like this is too dangerous and close to the Jamesville Elementary School and that a park and/or mixed housing or a marketplace etc. are better and safer uses of this property.

Petitition Against Coal Refinery

We, the undersigned residents of
Central New York oppose the siting of a coal gasification plant in the Town of DeWitt. There are significant long-term negative economic and environmental impacts, along with public health and safety concerns. This type of large scale fossil fuel facility should not be sited next to a school,a State Park and residences. The proposed location is less than 4 miles from the center of Syracuse and would have a detrimental effect on a large metropolitan area. We urge all local municipalities to take action to oppose this project.
